BOQ’s Cycle Tour - supporting Stars Foundation

BOQ’s annual charity cycle tour is on 21- 22 June 2019.

Set in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland, I will be riding 300km over two days....with a very great portion of it up hill!

To show your support please make a donation to BOQ's charity partner, the Stars Foundation, Stars Foundation is working to help close the gap of Indigenous disadvantage by providing full-time, intensive mentoring support programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women in secondary schools in the Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria.

Use the “Give Now” button and share my page to generate awareness for our BOQ Cycle Tour and the Stars Foundation.

Stars Foundation Limited

Stars Foundation’s mission is to support and enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women to make active choices towards realising their full potential in all aspects of their development and well-being.

We provide a full-time mentoring program in partner schools across NT, QLD, VIC and WA, supporting First Nations girls and young women to attend and remain engaged at school, complete Year 12, and move into work or further study. Since Stars was established in 2015 the program has achieved consistently outstanding outcomes, with more than 90% of senior students completing Year 12 each year.

We build a culturally safe, nurturing environment in a dedicated ‘Stars Room’ within each partner school, which means that the girls and young women in the program can access the support they need, when and where they need it. Stars offers personal development activities and experiences in many different areas, including academic support, personal health and wellbeing, music, drama and dance, art, cooking and nutrition, and exercise and sport. Students also take part in community, cultural and volunteering activities to build their life-skills and confidence and further develop their links to culture and community.

Stars has a strong focus on transitions from school into work or further study. Since 2015, each year more than 80% of graduates have successfully moved into employment, training or tertiary study.

We know that supporting the education and empowerment of girls and young women has a powerful ripple effect, benefitting not only the girls themselves but also their families, wider communities, and future generations.

The future is in our Stars.
